It's crazy to know that I have been behind the chair for 16 years already! Most of you have been with me 10+ years and I am so grateful and can't thank you enough for rolling with me through all of my transitions.
But 2022, is the final year!
This year, I retire! I have decided to go ahead and hang my hat up doing hair behind the chair at the end of this year to focus on avenues such as teaching inside my hair color academy, Hair Color Concepts® Academy, and my non profit, The Adrienne Small Foundation™.
Being behind the chair this long was never my goal, it just happened!
I came into this career knowing I wanted to dig deeper into the industry. Whether it was in (my original love) runway/ editorial work, or through education, I knew I needed more than the salon to fulfill me.
After 16 years, I'm officially burned out, no longer inspired, my creativity is slowly diminishing and unless i'm doing hair color, it shows, and I hate that!
God has been pushing me for a LONG time to hang my hat up in the salon and this year I chose to be obedient and do what he has placed on me to do.
What happens until retirement?
I'll remain in the salon part time (Wednesday- Friday, 9am-3pm) until December 23, 2022.
If I have not seen you since September, 2021, you are officially a NEW CLIENT and I will only be seeing new clients, as color clients and a consultation will need to be booked prior to you booking a color appointment with me. That also means no more new client shampoo services, etc.
Current clients (if you've been to me since September 2021), your maintenance (shampoo) appointments are locked in and you're good to go!
What happens after retirement?
I signed on an apprentice, Kendra, back in November of 2021. She will be training with me until April, but also now works in the salon so she sees me work everyday. Kendra is training to take over my color clients, but is also an amazing extension specialist.
As I transition out of the salon, I wanted to make sure you had someone you could trust once i'm gone, and by the time I leave, she will definitely be that person!
Honestly, I'm really excited about this transition. Between my non profit and my hair color academy, they both have given me a new outlook on how I can be a bigger influence in this industry and I can't wait to go all in with them both!
But! December 23rd isn't here yet, so, continue to book your appointments, follow me on social media, and join my text community to always stay informed on what's next!
Talk with you soon!
